We have all your Independence Day fun in Bloomington-Normal, Towanda, Downs, and Chenoa — fireworks, parades, community picnics, and more — rounded up right here for you!

NORMAL

4th of July Sky Concert
July 4, 2023, 5:00pm
Bring your blanket, radio and the family for the annual Sky Concert at Fairview Park. Fireworks will begin at
approximately 9:15 p.m. Fireworks will be set to music on WJBC AM 1230. Family-friendly activities including inflatables and face painting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Food trucks will be on-site at 5:30 p.m. There will be a pre-Firework concert at 6 p.m. Overflow parking is available at ISU Parking & Transportation lot.

BLOOMINGTON

4th of July in Miller Park
July 4, 2023, All day fun

Holiday Pool's Happy Birthday America!
Holiday Pool will be open from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM with a special  Happy Birthday America event from Noon - 4:00 PM that will include games and prizes.  (11:00 AM - Noon swim is for pass holders only)

City of Bloomington Miller Park 4th of July Classic Car Cruise Celebration
Sponsored by MetroNet. In collaboration with Mid State Cruisers. The community is encouraged to visit Miller Park on July 4th from 3-7pm to view some antique, classic, race and new cars, trucks and motorcycles. There will be live music at the Miller Park Bandstand. Miller Park will be available for picnics, BBQ’s and a food vendor will also be on site for food purchases during the Fourth of July holiday. Holiday fireworks are scheduled to begin at dusk.

Miller Park Evening Fireworks
Bring your blanket, radio, and the family for the annual Sky Concert in Miller Park. Fireworks begin at approximately 9:15 pm (depending on weather and circumstances it could be 15 minutes earlier or later) and will be set to music on WJBC AM 1230. The Sky Concert is sponsored by Bloomington Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts, State Farm Insurance and WJBC.

Other Miller Park Fun on the 4th

  • Miller Park Zoo - open until 4:30 pm; grounds cleared at 5:00 pm.
  • Miniature Golf - open from Noon - 7:00 pm.
  • Miller Park Boats - open from 9:00 am - Noon
  • The sprayground - open from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm.

July 3 at dusk: Fireworks!
Light up your evening with fireworks set off from the Towanda Township Building about 8 miles east of Towanda on 1900 North Road. The display will be clearly visible from town, however, most enjoy sitting at the school to watch the show. Parking and food vendors will be available at the school. Come and watch an awesome display to kick off this year's 4th of July celebration!

July 4th at 9am: All day Flea Market

July 4 at 10am: Annual Fourth of July Parade
Head to Towanda to start your 4th of July out with a parade. Parade route: Adams and East St. go West; Jefferson turn North; Washington go East; Madison turn South; Monroe go East; and Taylor go South and exit at Hely and the school playground.

July 4, all-day events: Downs 4th of July Celebration

The Downs 4th of July Parade begins at noon and ends on East Washington St. in Downs near Tri Valley High School. After the parade enjoy vendors and family-friendly fun. CHENOA

July 4, 2pm - Chenoa 4th of July Parade & Fireworks
Don't miss the largest fireworks display in Central Illinois! The parade will begin at 2pm, with a spectacular fireworks show beginning at dusk/9:30ish. The parade will start at the corner of Division and Mill, west to downtown, south to Lincoln Street, then east to 9th Street. The fireworks will take place at the Football Field on South Division Street. Bring your family as Chenoa celebrates another year to the birth of our nation. 


HEYWORTH
July 4, 10am - 4th of July Parade and Fireworks at Dusk
There is nothing we love more in Heyworth than our parades! We are excited to bring another great parade to town. Bike/kid parade that will also include golf carts in honor of John Purlee, vintage cars and more! Route will be from the Heyworth Elementary School to Village Hall and back around to the school. Evening festivities include food vendors, DJ from around 7-10pm and fireworks at dusk.
