Heartland Community College's Kids@Heartland classes give students in grades K-12 the opportunity to participate in professionally led classes in a wide variety of instructional areas. Be to check out the more than 130 classes available in their online booklet! Below is a sample of what you’ll find.
Grades K-2
Meet live animals and find out what lives and grows on the farm in Lil' Farmers. Join us for an egg-cellent adventure. Students will take an up-close “peep” and see eggs hatching and new baby chicks in the center!
Grades 3-5
Find out how NASA helps our planet’s crops through hands-on chemistry experiments and outdoor experiences in Crop Quest. Tap into futuristic inspiration as you paint a fantasy outer space landscape, build your own robot sculpture, and design a steampunk ray gun in Tomorrow & Beyond, the Art of Science Fiction. Put on your chef's hat and step into the kitchen to bake (and taste) yummy gluten-free treats in Learn to Bake Gluten-Free Goodies.
Grades 6-8
Level up your writing skills and discover how your setting affects the plot and tone of your story in Young Writer's Workshop
Grades 6-12
Find out how you can help people during times of crisis as an emergency medical technician. Gain experience through hands-on
activities, including CPR training and an ambulance tour in So You Want To Be an EMT Master the rules of the road, practice bicycle safety, and learn how to perform basic bike maintenance in Basic Bike Maintenance & Safety
