3 Ways to Encourage Your Child To Explore Careers in Medicine

Is Your Child Excited by Our Healthcare Heroes?

September 30, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted ways healthcare workers are truly heroes—selfless, hard-working, and brave. Maybe your children have been inspired by these stories and want to learn more. If you are fortunate to know people in these careers, you can have them talk to your kids about their jobs. Otherwise, here are some ways to engage and inspire them to explore these types of in-demand, exciting, and well-paying professions.

  1. Make it fun! Many children learn through play and hands-on activities. If they can pretend to be a doctor, nurse, or veterinarian, they can better understand what they might do in those professions.
  2. Dress Up! Putting on costumes helps little imaginations.
  3. Use real working medical equipment! Children can better see themselves in the role of using real tools rather than plastic toys.

Where does this all come together in an affordable, engaging online platform, recently named on August 11, 2020 by Parents.com as one of the “15 Virtual After-School Programs To Keep Kids Engaged When the Learning Day is Done” as #9 on the list.

Little Medical School is now offered in Central Illinois with classes for kids aged 6-11 years old to inspire them to become future science workers in these caring fields. It was founded in 2010 by Dr. Mary Mason to teach children about becoming a doctor. Over the past 10 years, the company has developed additional content regarding nursing, pharmacy, veterinarian, sports medicine, exotic animal care, and more. The classes have typically been delivered in person in small groups either in afterschool programs, birthday parties, or camps.

This fall, Little Medical School developed classes that can be delivered with a live teacher via Zoom. Supplies are shipped directly to your home. Register NOW for October online classes:  Little Pediatrician School and Fun Facts About Exotic Animals.

The first 4 participants to register will receive a 20% discount off the regular price of each admission.  Discounts are also available for siblings.  Register HERE.
