Miller Park Zoo Hosts Animal Enrichment Day: Come Out and Play Edition

February 14, 2018

Shake off winter’s cabin fever spell and head out to the Miller Park Zoo’s Animal Enrichment Day: Come Out And Play Edition on Saturday, February 17 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Animal Enrichment Day: Come Out And Play Edition offers guests a chance to see how Zookeepers make the lives of Miller Park Zoo animals more exciting by encouraging the natural wild behavior of the creatures. Enrichment is the process of enriching an animal's environment to stimulate natural behaviors such as foraging and hunting.

“Animal care staff at the Zoo work hard to keep things innovative and exciting for the animals in their care,” says City of Bloomington Director of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts and Miller Park Zoo Director Jay Tetzloff. “Guests will see some of the more unique and creative ways our keepers work to stimulate natural behavior.” There will be keeper talks planned throughout the event for guests to learn about animal behavior.

There will be a play area indoors for children and the Zoo Lady team will be on site for face painting fun. Also, The Children’s Discovery Museum will have a create your own playground game.

This special event is free with Zoo admission.
