Easter Egg Hunts and Activities in Bloomington-Normal

By Andrea Morris March 25, 2015
The world has turned into a swirl of pastels—the grass coming up, trees starting to bud, and blue skies above. I love to see spring emerging. One of the things I look forward to most is returning to some of the fun traditions of my youth, including really fun and great Easter events.

There are quite a few happening in the area this year, some of them fun and unique, and are a great way to kick off the season!

March 28:

First Assembly of God at 800 E Vernon in Normal will be hosting their annual EPIC Easter Egg Hunt from 12pm to 3pm. Egg hunts will run the entire time, with new rounds starting about every 20 minutes. So come when you want and leave when your kids are exhausted, and you won't miss a thing! There is a huge list of FREE activities! Inflatables, petting zoo, face painting, hair painting, balloon animals, and lots of fun!  Lunch will be available for purchase if you need to fuel up during the hunt!

Town of Normal and the Normal CornBelters host their annual hunt at the Corn Crib at 1000 W Raab Road in Normal! The day starts off at 11 am with Easter games for kids ages 3 to 10 years old. Separate Easter Egg Hunts will be held for children up to age 10.  Hunts are at 11:15 a.m. for ages 2 and under; 11:30 a.m. for ages 3-4 years; 11:45 a.m. for ages 5-7 years, and Noon for ages 8-10. Both the Easter Bunny and Corny, the CornBelter’s mascot, will be there for pictures, hugs, and high fives! Children will need to bring a basket to collect and carry their goodies!

Miller Park Zoo won’t be hosting an egg hunt, but they will be kicking off spring with Bunny’s Birthday! Bunny’s birthday party is a fun, low key event that will offer close up animal encounters with Bunny and other Zoo friends, as well as crafts and birthday treats!  All birthday party events are free with zoo admission.

April 4:

Network Christian Church will be hosting their annual After Dark Easter Egg Hunt at 3703 Ireland Grove Rd. Bloomington! You’ll need to bring a flashlight to help you see, a bag to collect your eggs in, and a sense of adventure. Festivities start at 7:30pm with face painting and egg games, popcorn, and a short Easter message. Then it’s on to the hunt (weather permitting). This is a fun, free activity for families, and the dark makes it extra fun!

The Gingerbread House Toy Store at 603 S Hannah in Bloomington is hosting an all-day Easter celebration from 10am-5pm for kids of all ages. There will be cute and cuddly chicks and bunnies to pet, a funny bunny craft, and some tasty treats! The Easter Bunny will stop by from 11-2 to say hello and offer a BYOC (Bring Your Own Camera) photo opportunity!
