I don't know about you, but when I think of cast-iron skillets, I think of a big black skillet that food often sticks to, is hard to clean and requires Channing Tatum sized biceps to lift. So when I was asked to review the new Cuisinart CastLite™ Cast Iron Skillet, a cast-iron skillet that promises to be lightweight (weighing up to half the amount of the company's traditional cast-iron) and non-stick, I was more than a little skeptical.
But guess what? The Cuisinart CastLite™ Cast Iron Skillet lives up to their promises! It was definitely lighter than any cast-iron I've ever owned and nothing sticks to this thing. We've used it to make omelets, stir-fry, and cheesy scalloped potatos to name a few. I'm looking forward to trying my hand out at skillet cookies with it this weekend. Clean up is also a breeze. With barely any effot at all, any messes wipe right off. It's even dishwasher safe, although it is so easy to hand wash, I've yet to need to use the dishwasher to clean it.
Have a famly member or friend that loves spending time cooking in the kitchen? The Cuisinart CastLite™ Cast Iron Skillet would make a great gift. Foodies and wanna-be chefs will love the even heating it provides as well as the pretty porcelain enamel exterior (available in red with a black nonstick interior or blue with a blue nonstick interior). It also has cool grip stainless steel handles and is safe to put in the oven too. I bet they'll love it so much, you'll get an invite to dinner - prepared in the new skillet of course.
