Just in time for the hustle and bustle of the busiest shopping season of the year, a brand new local business is making shopping a bit easier for parents at Eastland Mall.
At Aunty Tammie’s, Eastland Mall's newest addition, parents have the option of bringing their children (ages 1-10) in to be cared for and entertained in a safe and secure facility. While their children are in the hands of the well trained and screened staff members at Aunty Tammie's, parents can shop, grab a bite to eat, visit the nail and hair salon, and enjoy all the mall has to offer.
The kids will be busy too! At Aunty Tammie's children can enjoy art projects, games, stories, puzzles, building with Legos, playing dress-up, Wii games, sliding on the play structure or just relaxing in the reading nook while making new friends.
Parents can purchase a one, two or three hour stay which includes healthy, peanut-free snack options. There are also monthly membership options available which offers child care services at a discounted rate.
Starting in January, Aunty Tammie’s will feature a different country of the month beginning with Japan. They will also offer preschool lessons for children ages 2 to 5 years old. These lessons will focus on letter, number and word recognition, counting in English and a foreign language, arts and crafts, stories, social skills, singing and movement activities.
Aunty Tammie’s is owned and operated by Tammie Mance, a local mom of two. With a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Loyola University in 1998, and teaching experience at both public and private Chicago school's as well as daycare centers, Tammie is excited to offer parents this new service and thrilled with the community response she has received since opening her doors just a few weeks ago. Aunty Tammie’s is open during mall hours and located outside of the Kohl’s entrance next to the Mole Hole in Eastland Mall (1615 E. Empire in Bloomington).
At Aunty Tammie's:
- All staff members must pass a background check before being hired
- All staff members are trained in first-aid, C.P.R. and to handle emergency situations
- Our playroom is secured by a half-wall and a door that is locked during all hours of operation
- We have strict check in and check out procedures with a safety band and I.D. system for parents and their children
- All toys and equipment are age appropriate and clean
- We follow a “well-child” policy
Prices and Specials
up to one hour - $7.00 (per child)
up to two hours - $12.00 (per child)
up to three hours - $18.00 (per child)
*Date Night Special – Monday through Thursday, 5pm -9pm, up to 3 hours of child care for only $10.00 per child!
Group Rates: a group of 5 to 15 children may stay up to 2 hours for $9.00 per child.
Monthly membership prices vary depending on which package is purchased.
