Hummingbird Festival & Pollination Celebration Saturday, Aug. 27th

August 24, 2016
What is pollination and why are pollinators important? Come learn about hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies from experts during programs, hikes, and garden tours. Enjoy puppet shows, crafting, and playing a life sized migration game. Attend hummingbird seminars led by experts and visit with local businesses featuring an assortment of products for attracting hummingbirds and other pollinators to your yard and garden.

Buzz on down to our Sap & Honey House to see a bee hive up-close, sample honey, and learn from members of the Illinois State University Beekeeping Club! Meet Vern Kleen, a licensed hummingbird bander, who will demonstrate trapping, banding, and releasing hummingbirds. Celebration participants will have the chance to “adopt” a bird to receive updates if it is recaptured.
