The first annual BBQ & A Brew 5K & 1 Mile Walk/Run + ¼ Mile Youth Run is taking place Saturday, October 22nd from 3:30 – 6:00 PM at the Corn Crib. Proceeds will benefit the ARC Living Memorial Fund whose goal is to support the future success and expansion of ARC programming in order to provide McLean County seniors a happy, healthy aging experience and improved quality of life.
All participants will be served a BBQ meal following the race that will include two beer tickets for those 21 and over. There will also be activities for the kids to take part in following the main event and youth run. These include bounce houses, adventure trikes, carnival games and cotton candy. Online registration will be open through Thursday, October 20th at 4:00 PM and race-day registration will begin at 2:45 PM at The Corn Crib. Early race-day packet pick up will take place at ARC on Friday, October 21st from 4:00-7:00 PM. Cost of the event is $35.00 for an adult runner or walker, $15.00 for a youth entry and $6.00 for a meal ticket for non-participants.
The mission of ARC is to provide a modern, friendly atmosphere for socialization and fitness, as well as recreational, nutritional, health support and assistance services for senior citizens throughout McLean County. We believe in supporting a comprehensive range of programs and services for older adults. Our classes and activities meet a wide array of interests, expectations and needs while we work to continually expand our program. ARC, sponsored by Normal Township, works with other supportive senior service agencies and individuals in and outside of McLean County.
