This week we celebrate our nation's independence, and our area knows how to to do just that! There is so much to do to celebrate the Fourth of July in Bloomington-Normal and the fun kicks off this weekend! Check out our calendar and this article for all the details.

SATURDAY, JULY 2

4th of July Parade with Geoffrey!
Join in a 4th of July parade with Geoffrey at Toys R Us (1703 E Empire, Bloomington). This is a FREE event.
    When: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM
    Who: All Ages

Red, White and Fun!
Makers of all ages can make a red, white and blue tie-dye T-shirt and decorate festive 4th of July cookies at Michael's (200 Greenbriar Dr., Normal). You must purchase a T-shirt to participate in this activity. All other supplies will be provided.
    When: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
    Who: All Ages

SUNDAY, JULY 3

Happy 3rd of July!
Why celebrate the fourth of July only on the fourth? Happy 3rd of July! Holiday Pool (800 S McGregor, Bloomington) will be open late for a night swim to bring in America's Birthday. Who knows, we might even be able to see some fireworks! Cost: Pool pass or regular admission of $4/person (ages 2 and under are free).
    When: 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM

4th of July in Miller Park: The Pantagraph's Celebrate America
Members of the Holiday Spectacular cast will return to the Miller Park Bandstand (1020 S. Morris Ave., Bloomington) with their Celebrate America Performance. You will hear many of your old favorite patriotic songs, plus some new numbers. Free to attend!

MONDAY, JULY 4

4th of July Early Bird Swim
Celebrate the 4th with a special 9am-10:30am early bird swim at Fairview Family Aquatic Center (801 N. Main St., Normal)! In true birthday style, enjoy cake and ice cream (while it lasts), special giveaways for children who attend the birthday celebration, and fun! Cost: $1 for adults ages 16 and over and free for children 15 and under and season pass holders. The pool will be cleared at 10:30 and will re-open at 11am - regular admission will apply at that time.

Happy Birthday America Party
Head over to O'Neil Pool (Hinshaw and Chestnut in Bloomington) before the Miller Park fireworks on the 4th! Special activities for the 4th of July including games, prizes and fun! Admission is $4 per person, kids 2 and under are free.

Proud to be an American
This year, the Normal Pools (Fairview: Rt. 51 North Main St. in Normal and Anderson: 100 S. Maple in Normal) Aquatic Centerswill celebrate the 4th in a way that shows their pride for American Heritage! Come to the pool from 11am-5pm for the afternoon and enjoy activities, trivia and prizes! Cost: Admission prices for Fairview: 16 and up $6, ages 3-15 $5, 2 and under are free! Admission prices for Anderson: 16 and up $5, ages 3-15 $4, 2 and under are free!
    When: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM

4th of July in Miller Park: Fireworks
Enjoy fireworks at dusk (approximately 9:15pm) at Miller Park (1020 S. Morris Ave., Bloomington)! Bring your blankets or chairs to sit on and enjoy the show! Throughout the day, families can picnic in the park, visit the zoo, and ride the paddleboats! Free!
